Description: 1-story masonry, rectangular plan, stuccoed and black glass brick facade; depending aluminum awning, awning lights covered with aluminum plate; original display and chamfered entry; entry doors are two paired doors.
Significance: The 1915 Sanborn Fire Insurance Map (Sheet 3) shows a 1-story masonry structure used as a saddlery and shoe repair shop. The 1928 City Directory shows Adams City Market; the 1937 City Directory shows Adams City Market; the 1946 and 1947 City Directories show Abney & Medford Hardware Company. Several members of the Abney family had hardware businesses in the city. Good example of commercial structure in Lufkin Central Business District. It could be a contributing member of a district; however, it is not individually significant for National Register.
