• Description: One-story petrified wood rock cottage; masonry is laid in random courses; irregular plan; polychrome tile intersecting hip and gable roof with ridge caps; exterior stone chimney on west facade; extended porch and porte cochere with arched openings, entry door is wood with multipane glass lights and storm door, multipane wood double hung windows; detached garage in similar construction at rear.
• Significance:  Very fine example of rock cottage and stone masonry in the Craftsman tradition. Built for E.E. Rastas and Erma Read. First listed on Old Diboll Highway in the 1937 city directory.
