- Condition: Good; first floor storefronts extensively altered, windows closed with metal panels.
- Description: 3-story; masonry with brick veneer; rectangular plan with inset display and entry doors, 4-bay facade on east, 8-bay facade on south; vertical end bays have vertical raised brickwork and an inset panel with Masonic symbol in cast stone; interior bays supported by engaged pilasters with cast stone caps; cast stone raised dentils below the parapet and third floor windows, cast stone string course above the first floor, windows are paired with patterned header course, closed by metal panels; openings on first floor closed with stucco; cornerstone at southeast corner; inset display windows at 122 and 124; 124 entry is modern aluminum storefront; 122 has wood and glass entry door with transom above; aluminum canopy with transom covered by aluminum vertical siding. Southwest corner entry with keyed arch over a stained glass transom and aluminum double doors.
- Significance: Lufkin Lodge #669, A. F. & A. M., J. H. Kurth, early director, also S. M. Morris, A. F. Cruse, G. A. Kelly. The 1928 directory list J. O. Poe Dry Good and Post Office on first floor. The second floor had offices, J. S. Moore and Sons, Contr., J. O. Booker, civ eng., Gulf Pipe Line Co., E. T. Clark, phys, W. L. O’Quinn, dentist; the third floor had the Masonic Lodge. In 1937 the listing was for the J. O. Poe Store and the Manhattan Cafe. Structure could be nominated to the National Register if appropriately renovated. Has good architectural significance.
