- Description: 1-story frame with bull-nosed siding; hip-and-gable pressed metal roof pierced by three corbeled chimneys; massed plan; wrap around porch is supported by Doric columns; brick pier foundation with lattice skirt; windows are slender 1/1 double-hung; three entry doors onto porch have multiple lights; finials at gables. Residence is surrounded by a cast concrete fence strung with links of chain. [Note: Style/Type Victorian Cottage.]
- Significance: Good example of style. Built ca. 1900-1905 for the Banks family. He was associated with the Lufkin Land and Lumber Company. The family moved to San Antonio ca. 1915. Their son Stanley Banks was chairman of the Texas State Historical Association for several years. He is retired and living in San Antonio (may be 96 years old). Leila Cockrell, a former mayor of San Antonio, is the grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Banks. Nominated to the National Register. The significance is architecture.
