  • Description: 1-story frame with rectangular plan; composition gable roof, extended rafter ends; windows in threes and ones are 616 wood double-hung, recessed entry has hallway, frame steps, two doors, concrete block foundation; original section has brick pier foundation; addition on north facade, second addition on south side; merry-go-round set in concrete on south side.
  • Significance: Began as a one-teacher and then a two-teacher school; in early 1920 changed name from Fairchild to Fair View; ceased being a school and went to Diboll in 1940s or 1950s; Dave Modessetti taught here; named for State Senator and Representative D. Fairchild, who is said to have been responsible for locating Stephen F. Austin University at Nacogdoches.
