Description: 1-story round log house with composition gable roof, extended rafter ends; stacked rock chimney; multipanixt wood casement windows, screened projecting porch with stacked rock piers; a second entrance on the north facade; stacked rock pillars at entry off street; heavy vegetation surrounds site. A second bath was added by Mrs. Russell on the northwest corner of the house in the same style. The exact date of this alteration is not certain, however, it appears to have been done during the 1930s. A pergola on the west facade has been removed.
Significance: Built for Claude M. and Annie Russell ca. 1920. The 1928 directory list Russell as a traveling shoe salesman. A 1925 Mayfete photograph shows the house and the feast taking place in an area between the house and South First Street. There is currently another residence at that site. When the Russells passed away, the residence was owned by Karl Cook; he sold the structure to the Arnold’s. The structure is a good example of the Craftsman movement of the first quarter of the 20th century. It is nominated to the National Register. The area of significance is architecture.
